For seven years I shot live performances and artists for NewBay Media, with work appearing in Mix, Pro Sound News, and Guitar Player. Working within the standard constraints of editorial concert photography, three songs, no flash, no retakes, I developed a sharp instinct for anticipating moments rather than reacting to them. As art director for several of these publications, I also had the unusual advantage of shooting the work and shaping how it lived on the page.
